I won't get into the "I can't believe my baby is a year old already" or the "This last year went so fast"...those things are just implied with all this! :)
Tyler had to work on Tuesday (Jordy's birthday), but that was okay because Jordy spent a lot of his birthday sleeping or was really clingy to me-- I think he was a little messed up with his sleeping from our trip, etc.
BUT- he was sure happy to see Tyler when he got home!
What a happy birthday boy!
We wanted to take Jordy somewhere for a fun little treat but it got late and it was super cold and windy, so we didn't want to go far. We did take him, however, to the next best place...McDonald's! :)
He really enjoyed his cheeseburger and fries!
We came back and Jess and Ryan and Carly and Brad came over for the party to begin!
Jordy got to open some more presents...
Jordy even tried taking a few steps with his corn popper, until he realized he could make it pop while sitting!
Then it was finally time for cake!
We expected Jordy to dig right in, however, he didn't seem to want to get messy. Go figure! He makes a mess with all of our stuff but he doesn't want to get himself messy!
We tried helping him see that it was yummy...
But he just wasn't convinced.
But then we brought out the BIG CHOCOLATE cake and he seemed much more excited about that!
Silly little man! I should have known he'd like chocolate better.
Aunt Carly decided his cake eating had been anti-climatic and way too mess-free, so she decided to help out!
That's more like it!
We couldn't be more proud!
It was straight to the bath for Jordy after all that! :)
Although it was Jordy turning 1 year old- both Tyler and I felt like we were celebrating a birthday of ours as well...1 year old parents! :) We weren't perfect by any means...in fact, we had lots of trial and error and asking the experts (aka: our parents!) We continue to learn new things every day. Jordy has kept us on our toes and has more energy than both of us combined, but such a fun personality! We love him so so much! Happy Birthday sweet boy!
Tyler's family wanted to have a little party to celebrate Jordy's birthday before we left Idaho- which was really nice of them considering they've had their share of first-birthday-parties already between all the nieces and nephews!
Jordy definitely gets a lot of attention from all of his aunts and uncles and cousins! He's one lucky boy!!!
One of Jordy's aunts and uncles thought it would be funny to give him a Steeler's hat- knowing we are Packer's fans. Hmmm...hopefully we can trade it in! :)
He did look cute though!
Jordy had a carrot cake (Tyler thought it would get him excited for the sweeter cake on his birthday)
Not so sure what to think...
"Ok, Ok...I'll try it..."
"Mmmm...that's pretty tasty"
"Oh! This is good!"
He didn't get real messy, but he did eat almost all of his piece of cake!
And then, the Christmas Celebrations Continue...
We only took a couple presents for Jordy to open on Christmas in Idaho, the rest we left here (we asked Santa to split his delivery! :)
SO- Jordy opened up something on Christmas Eve, Christmas, on Sunday before his birthday, the Monday we got back and then his birthday was on Tuesday and then he still had one left over for the day after his birthday-- so I'm afraid he's thinking that everyday he gets to rip something! (Just when we were making progress with him not bee-lining it for our magazines that are out! Oh well...)
SO- here are a few more pictures of Jordy unwrapping stuff! (And yes- just as most babies...he seemed to enjoy the box/packaging/wrapping more than the actual present!)
Continuing the tradition from my parents- Jordy got a lot of books from us for Christmas! :)
Look how excited he is about it too!
It's the most I've seen him entertained and sitting in one place for awhile! :) Thank you to the grandmas and grandpas and aunt(s)/uncles and cousins for the generous gifts! Jordy is one spoiled little boy! He has definitely been our best Christmas present throughout this last year!
