Memorial Day

We were so excited for Memorial Day: A day off from school for me, no work for Tyler (first day off since the new year!) and nice weather... We did have a little BBQ with Jess and Ryan at their place with Ben and Carly and Brad. Ryan showed off his fancy grilling skills! :)
Then on Monday we wanted to do so many things- have pancakes, go hiking, play mini-golf, go swimming, plant our seeds, have a BBQ etc...and then we ran out of time to do most of it! Ü
But we still had a fun day!

Starting with strawberry shortcakes and berry smoothies :)

Then a "mini" BBQ with Carly and Brad

Tyler and the mini-grill! :)
Jordy was so festive!

Carly and Brad had some water balloons- so we used that as an excuse to
get Jordy in his swimming suit for the first time!
Bring on the water balloons! :)

On second thought...

Then we took a walk to the park and showed Jordy the splash pad. I think we were more amused with it than he was...

"Oooh...I'm getting wet!"

There's a smile!

Mr. Cool Ü
As you've noticed- there's almost always something in Jordy's mouth recently. Luckily, he's taken over our pacifier-putter-backer job! :)

What a day! Somebody was ready for a nap!

Family Pictures

We missed Jordy's 3-month pictures (oops. My bad :) So we decided to use our Groupon and get 4 1/2 month pictures with a family picture. Both times now that I've gone in for pictures with Jordy, I went in telling myself "Be strong! You know they are going to try to sell you more than you can afford"...and yet, both times, it's so frustrating seeing cute pictures of Jordy that I know they're just going to throw away. Ughhh. So I still got more than I intended to initially Ü (Maybe one day I'm going to only buy what I went in to buy!) We only got a 3-image CD, so most of these are just from the online album- I thought there were some fun ones, but I couldn't get them all!

I wasn't that impressed with the photographer. Jordy can definitely smile but she was taking the picture before he would and then she acted like she had run out of "clicks". Oh well...we got a few and we know he has a big ol' smile! :)

4 months with percentiles!

Jordy went to the doctor today...and even though we had to wait 45 min. to be seen and he got shots, he did really well.
He weighed: 14.4 lbs (21st percentile)
25 1/4 in. long (58th percentile)
Head: 16 3/8 in. (44th percentile)

He got the green light to start solid foods (we'll see about that...some baby foods make me want to gag!)

AND...
Look what he can do!

And he's sitting in his big boy chair!

AND... reading Uncle Ben's bicycle magazine!!

Such a big boy!!!!

Playing pat-a-cake with dad

But, big boy or not...he still can be a little naughty... :)

We love him!!!

Hike to the Y

It was a BEAUTIFUL day on Saturday- so we decided to go for a hike!
Jordy got all nice and comfortable riding with Dad...

It was so sunny- but just the perfect temperature- but I was still paranoid that Jordy would get burned- but he stayed pretty covered! (We on the other hand ended up getting a little burned)

He didn't seem to mind! :)

I'm not going to lie...it was a challenge making it up there! (Considering it's been almost a year since I had done virtually any form of physical activity...)

But we made it (a nice 45 minutes later! Ü)

Jordy: King of Provo!

Tyler wanted to be sure to get one with the football stadium in the background! :)

And then we made it back down again.
Boy, was he a tired guy! And look at Jordy! :) Such hard word going up and down that mountain!

But his day wasn't over yet! We then went to the BYU Men's soccer game!

It was a GREAT day to be outside!

4 Months!

Look who's 4 months old!

WHO, ME?!

OK...It's ME!

We go for Jordy's 4-month check-up next week- so I'll update this when we have his percentiles, but some things about Jordy now:

- He LOVES his fists and thinks it's a game when we try to keep them out of his mouth...he's pretty sneaky finding a way to get them back in!
- His sleep schedule is very variable. One night he'll sleep for almost 8 hours then the next he's waking up every 2...
- He still definitely prefers being on his stomach over his back.
- He rolled over once...but most of the time he just scrunches up his legs but doesn't quite get enough momentum to roll over!
- Smiles all the time. Grandma Hyatt described him as smiling with his whole body! When he is happy- he is VERY happy!
- "Talks" a lot! He's still exploring his vocal range- lots of high squeals but he's also doing lower coos!
- Follows objects and watches people (when he's interested!)
- On the verge of laughing...he's let out a few sounds that are so close to a laugh...but they're still more like squeals of delight!
- Has quite the death grip on some of his toys! (Especially in his car seat- it's fun to watch him play with the toys hanging above him)
- Loves blowing bubbles
- Still quite the kicker
- LOVES the colorful fish bubble lamp (it's sometimes the only thing that calms him down when he gets worked up)
- Doesn't like being put down at all or being out of sight of people
- Was trying to set a record for going the longest without having a messy diaper....he made it up to 10 days before we said that was long enough... :(
- Loves being entertained! (He does really well if you have the energy to move from activity to activity with him. Just don't expect to get ANYTHING else of YOURS done!)

Some more Jordy smiles!

Trying to eat both fists...can't quite get them both to fit!

Death-grip on his toy!

Chillin' in his "leisure" suit! :)

This outfit was from Jordy's Aunt Kristi...the old-time football helmet-hat was too cute! (Though, he also looks like a pilot)

My favorite thing about being a mom:
I love making Jordy smile! He has had his ups and downs- having a hard time waking up early or going to sleep...but like was mentioned before- when he is happy, he can be SO SO HAPPY! He smiles so big and literally squirms with delight! It is fun to see him showing more of a personality and interacting with people. Even when I'm a little stressed with school stuff, he can make me forget about all that when he smiles! I love my happy little boy...now just to figure out how to keep him happy all the time! :)
